Roundy Residence 1

The Roundy Residence is built on a 10 acre land, San Juan Islands, Washington State. Designed by Miller Hull Partnership, this residence is built well with special concept on the land topography that rolls gently on the sloping area of 100 feet bluff height that goes down to the water edge.

Because of the hard wind from the water to the top, the residence is designed with a wind breaker. The residence is built stretching along the slope consisting living area, garage and also the entry porch. To enable the owners to enjoy the beautiful views, the north south wing of the residence is designed with glass panels.

The residence’s private areas such as bedrooms and guestrooms are placed on the east west with garden views that can be enjoyed through the glass windows. A porch is also featured the residence on the south in front of the doors and covered by glazed roof. The glazed roof is functional as solar heat collector in winter and also as shading in summer. The residence also has an art studio and office that are placed in the two storey tower. It is also featured by solar panels that collect energy for water and floor heater. via
