Middap Ditchfield Architects designing Peregian Beach House in Queensland, Australia. This holiday home is situated on elevated site overlooking the beach and Peregian Beach. It has been designed to take full advantage of a dramatic seascape. House steps down a site that helps connect the internal and external space on the land. Courtyard rooms have been introduced to reduce the size of the building, capturing the northern lights and saw an opportunity to promote through the building to the pool, sea and other areas in the home. Where possible the building has been designed for a single room in width to maximize the cross / thru natural light and ventilation. A central circulation spine flanked by concrete walls that continued long-form off the house. This is a major feature of the house, it provides thermal mass for natural climate control, defining the circulation spine and completed forms from the board presents the character of driftwood weather. External materials have been selected for low maintenance and strong characteristics. Solar hot water systems have been installed and the roof water collected in tanks on the ground for reuse.
